Italiano Day - fantastico and Italian Poetry Competition Awards

Italiano Day

What a fantastico day!

Last week, we had Italiano Day which was a ‘magnifico’ celebration of all things Italian. Students were excited to dress up to represent Italy and its culture. First off was the parade where all students participated in displaying their costumes. Students were dressed in Italian flag colours, soccer players, Super Mario, Carnevale, Pinocchio, gelati and pizza chefs, bowls of spaghetti, giant pizzas and even Mount Vesuvius and Leonardo Da Vinci made an appearance.

There were a variety of cultural and language activities for the day. We had performances, cultural dancing, craft activities, bocce, Leaning Tower of Pisa relay and soccer clinic run by Juventus Soccer Academy. What a wonderful day! ‘Che bella giornata!’

The Performance from ‘Spectacular Spectacolo’ theatre was an opportunity for students to participate in Italian culture and language through music and dance. The main character Claudia goes on an adventure with the help of her time machine to Juliet’s balcony in Verona, sightseeing in Pisa, walking through the ruins of Pompeii, MasterChef in Bologna, and catwalk of Milan. She discovers cultural icons and Italian language through an interactive musical and dance show.

And of course, Italian food and gelato provided by Annette in the canteen, to cap off the day.

It was great to see everyone getting into the spirit of the day.

Thank you to all the teachers, students and staff for your contribution and participation in this wonderful event.

Grazie mille,
