Performing Arts Captains

We are pleased to announce our Performing Arts Captains for 2023 are Chrystin Gosios, Elijah Keam, Elijah Haynes and Orion Rigano.

On Thu 15 December, they were invited to the opening of the new Woolworths store at Knox Westfield to cut the cake and be amongst the first people to enter the store.  They did a wonderful job representing the Wantirna College Performing Arts program, with Orion playing flute. We look forward to a positive relationship with our new friends at Woolworths Knox.

Year 8 Drama 2022

The ten Year 8s began their introduction to Drama learning about the theatre style of Mime. For the final assessment of this unit of work students worked in groups to create their own group-devised Bubblegum scenes. The term finished off with looking at Sound and Voice and an introduction to script work.

The second term was all about Comedy – ‘What is funny?’ and ‘What makes us laugh?’. This culminated in whole class productions of Bamboozled which were performed in front of their peers.

Piano Soirée

On the evening of Thu 1 December, the Instrumental Piano students each performed a solo work in the College Theatre to a supportive audience of family and friends. Our students have worked diligently to develop their skills this year, culminating in being able to perform a piece confidently in front of an audience.  This was an opportunity for students to participate in a polished event.

We would like to thank Deng Kuot and Cooper Rockstro for designing and operating the sound and lighting for the evening.

Piano Keys Available for Collection

Thank you to all families and friends who purchased a Piano Key in the Parents of Performing Arts 'Buy a Piano Key' fundraiser.  Together, we raised $5200 toward the purchase of a new Baby Grand Piano. Everyone who purchased a Piano Key receives an actual Piano Key as a memento of their generosity and all our supporters will be commemorated on a plaque that will hang in the Theatre Foyer.

Piano Keys are now available and can be collected from the Music Office until 4pm Mon 19 Dec and then again in Term One 2023. The Parents of Performing Arts wish all families a Happy Holiday Season!
