State Sport

We have had a massive past month in sport with two of out intermediate boys teams making it through to the Victorian State Championships.

After many postponed dates, the Intermediate Boys Cricket team finally got their time to shine when they played Wodonga Secondary College in their State Final. Unfortunately, due to the postponed dates, the State Final clashed with our Year 9 Camp week meaning half of our team was unable to play. The remaining players put their best foot forward, attempting to gel with the recruited fill ins however they fell short, being bowled out for 49.

Across the year, this team has poured their heart and soul into their game and to be one of just eight teams to progress to the State Championships is an achievement in itself. Mr Mason and Ms Shaw are extremely proud of your efforts, persistence and determination and look forward to what is to come in senior years.

Following a late call up, Wantirna's Intermediate Boys Basketball side were in to the State Championships! With a tight pool, Wantirna had three games to play pre-finals. Beating St Helena 49-33 in the first game, the boys had some competition against Berwick in the second.

Coming away with the 35-34 win, our ballers were a good chance to make it through to the championship match. Tired and sore, unfortunately the boys just fell short to Horsham with a 7 point loss meaning Berwick, Horsham and Wantirna were tied on 2 wins a piece. Leaving the final spot to percentage, Wantirna narrowly missed out with Berwick progressing through to play Box Hill in the title match.

Ms McMahon’s side did the best they could with the limited notice and once again couldn’t be prouder of the efforts and behaviours displayed by the boys.
