Arts & Technology Showcase Presentation Evening

Last night, our Language and Science building was transformed into our Met Gala gallery for our Presentation Evening in celebration of the end of the 2022 Art & Technology Showcase.

The Showcase ran from Mon to Thu and featured works from our Year 11 and 12 Art & Technology students in the following categories:

Product Design (Wood & Textiles)
Systems Technology
Studio Art (Student choice of medium)
Visual Communications
Media

The whole school community voted for their favourite works throughout the week with guests casting their final votes for the People's Choice Award on Thursday night. Guests also tasted and voted in the Great Wantirna Bake-Off.

As well as the fantastic and creative exhibits in the Showcase, guests were treated to refreshments, music and our Met Gala red carpet!

However, the most exciting part of the night was the announcement of all the winners. Congratulations to the following Wantirna College artists and creators for receiving an Award:

We'd like to thank our very special Guest Speaker Shirley Dougan from the Ferntree Gully Arts Society Committee (and The Hut Gallery). She spoke about Mia Pensa a local artist who has succeeded in developing her artistic career and she highlighted the many opportunities young artists have and the ways they can pursue their craft after high school. Shirley expressed delight at the quality of works exhibited at our Showcase and congratulated Wantirna College on the way we support our students and shine a light on Art & Technology.

We'd also like to thank all our other guests for attending the event - we sold over 130 tickets for the evening with many students and families attending.

Thank you to our business supporters 9 Rounds Wantirna, Schokolade Cafe, Bunnings Vermont, Red Rabbit Rubbish Removal for their generous donations of vouchers towards prizes for our event.

Lastly, thank you to all the staff and students who participated in our Showcase Presentation evening and helped make it such an amazing success.
