(Compulsory for all Year 9 students)
Throughout Term 4, Year 9 students have been busy preparing for their upcoming Mock Interviews. Please have a conversation with your child about what they have been learning in the first round of Mock Interview preparation sessions. All students must have a professionally completed cover letter and resume for the day and will be learning how to create these documents during Explore.
We are still looking for 3-4 more external volunteers who may be able assist with Mock Interviews. Volunteers will work as part of a team of two with a staff member and/or member of the local community. Interview questions, student feedback forms, morning tea and lunch will be provided. A Working with Children’s Check is required. If you think you might be able to help on the day, please email me.
The Year 9 Mock Interview program provides students with a chance to gain confidence and experience in a real-life mock interview within a safe and constructive environment.
Following a 15 minute mock interview with their Explore teacher and a guest with business (or other) relevant experience, students will reflect on their nonverbal and verbal communication skills, as well as learn and develop important interviewing skills they will need for the future. They will receive constructive feedback from both panel members.
Prior to their interview, students will prepare and submit a Cover Letter and Resume then book their interview via Compass prior to Thu 1 Dec (parents are encouraged to help). Bookings are now open.
On the day, students are only required to attend school for their allocated interview and should wear professional dress (smart/formal interview attire).
Parents/guardians are not required to attend the interviews but can help students to arrive 10 mins early for their interview.
In preparation for Mock Interviews, students will choose from a list of Job Ad options.
Students have been working through structured lessons in Explore to help prepare them for their interview, as well as attend an information assembly in the lead up to their Mock Interview Day.
