From the Principal

Welcome
I welcome all students and parents to GSG for the 2023 academic year. A very special welcome to our new students and families who are joining us for the first time. We have experienced a wonderful two days, students have been receptive to the new pastoral structure, new staff and the preparation for being ready to learn.
A special thank you to Ivy Moir (Year Twelve) who piped in our students as they arrived for their first day.
2023 is Great Southern Grammar's 25th year, a special milestone in the School’s history. Great Southern Grammar provides a safe, healthy environment with a positive culture and enhanced student learning. Everyone who has a connection to the School has shown the true meaning of dedication and loyalty. I look forward to celebrating our 25th year with families at events throughout the year.
Parent Support
It has been wonderful to welcome back parents and guardians to the School this week. Parents have been active in the transition of their children to classrooms. It has been heart-warming to observe families escorting children into Primary School classrooms, many for the first time, or filling lockers with newly covered books and files. Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting students and staff at the start of each academic year. With this in mind, I look forward to further information and conversations at next Friday‘s Parent and Guardian Information Sessions and P&F Sundowner (please refer to the P&F News page for the invitation).

Vale Catherine Nathan
It is with much sadness that I advise Education Assistant, Mrs Catherine Nathan, passed away earlier this year after a long illness. Catherine was a valued staff member of the School with her two children attending GSG, her daughter being a foundation student. Catherine worked at GSG from 2002 until 2020 and made a significant contribution to the students she assisted during this time. We send our love and prayers to Catherine’s family.
