Bentleigh East

Here at Bentleigh East, we are moving into a very busy and hectic time over the final few weeks of Semester One.

Exams, topic tests and report preparation will soon be on the agenda for the staff as will increased levels of study and revision for our young men.

The College Chapel has been open on Fridays during lunchtime for meditation and quiet reflection time. As part of our Friday meditation, prayers have been offered for those in our community, who may at times, feel excluded, or who may be going through a tough period in their lives.

Recently, many Year 9 students from Bentleigh East attended the funeral of Joseph Jayme, father of fellow Year 9 student, Joshua. During our prayer and meditation, we have been keeping both the Gillard and Jayme families close to our hearts during the sadness of the last few weeks.

The feedback from Friday Meditation has been extremely positive, with the young men commenting on the “peacefulness” and the “inclusiveness” of these times of silence and reflection. Christian Meditation is of course an ongoing and important component of the Catholic Identity at St Bede’s College and we look forward to continuing this program in the second half of the year.

The entire campus also participates in Christian Meditation every Monday morning as part of our regular Homeroom time.

We are in the midst of preparations for the Year 10 Retreat which will be held at “Araluen” in Anglesea, during the last week of Term Two. This program will provide the students from Year 10 at the Bentleigh East Campus, the opportunity to rest, to reflect and also to recharge their batteries for the final two terms of the year. The retreat is organised so that there is an equal amount of time for “reflective sessions” as well as “self-directed time”. It is always a wonderful chance for the boys to relax and mix with staff members, in an environment away from the classroom. We are looking forward to an enjoyable experience.

Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.
