How can repurposing materials impact the environment?

2C have been investigating the question ‘How can repurposing materials impact the environment?’ as part of our Inquiry studies. Here is a snapshot of some of our developing understandings regarding this topic.

When you repurpose materials, the landscapes don’t get full with rubbish. Plastics aren’t good for the landscapes. When you overflow garbage, it causes pollution which we can breathe in which can lead to respiratory diseases.

When you repurpose, you get rubbish and you make it into something useful that you don’t need to throw into the rubbish again. So the landfill has less rubbish. Yash

Waste pollutes the environment and makes the environment unhealthy. If there was no repurposing, then our world would be dirtier. We need to make the world more clean and that’s why we have Education Week. Jaik

Most people’s rubbish goes on the beach and they throw it around everywhere and fish can die. Sameeksha

Repurposing helps the environment. If we repurpose something, we have more chances not to waste it. Kavya

If there’s too much rubbish in the bins, it won’t be sustainable. We have to make things with the rubbish instead of just throwing it away. Dev

Repurposing is important because you won’t throw away the rubbish, you can make something new. You won’t buy new things from the shop either and you will make the rubbish into something useful. Krish
