Hospitality

Grade 6 students have an opportunity to experience the serving and preparation of food and beverage service.

Students work in a team environment during their lunchtime and over the year gain the basic understanding of customer service for a café by catering for school events.

The lunchtime sessions are designed to provide students with appropriate learning opportunities that will enable them to acquire a range of technical, personal, and interpersonal skills specifically related to the hospitality industry.

Each student uses the Mackellar kit consisting of a full-length apron, hat and cooks’ knives.

The students are working towards re-launching the Honey Pot Café in Term 3, which was established in 2019, preparing and serving takeaway coffee, iced coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks and freshly baked muffins. These are sold to parents and families of Mackellar students, between 3pm – 4pm once a week.
