  St John’s Staff/Student Buddy Program

To help promote a continuously safe and supportive learning environment for all students, we have decided to engage in a staff/student buddy program. The aim of this program is to continue to foster positive, respectful relationships and allow staff to make connections with a student they wouldn’t usually teach. All staff have been assigned a student buddy, either a student in Year 6, supporting them in their final year of primary school or a new student to our school in 2021, supporting them in their transition.

Here’s some of our student feedback on the staff/student Buddy program so far:

It’s really fun having a staff buddy. My staff buddy is new and I felt responsible being able to show her around the school. It’s nice having another staff member to talk to at lunch - Oliver

My buddy is very thoughtful and humorous. I love it when we have lunch together

- Hayden

My buddy is very caring and funny  - Keira

My staff buddy is always there for me. We always say hi and have a conversation whenever I see her. She is very kind and caring and is always smiling  - Biddy

My staff buddy is nice. She’s very funny. I like having lunch with her - Evie

My staff buddy makes me feel happy. I like it because you have a teacher who is your buddy - Boston

I can talk to my buddy about anything I want. I can really trust them - Bella

My buddy is fun and always has a smile on her face when we have lunch together - Bartek

Places will be limited so we encourage early registrations. Registration fee is $35.00. These online programs are suitable for children between Year 3 to Year 7, based on the parent’s discretion.

Thank you for downloading our Tricky Talks conversation starters, “Where Did I Come From?” and “Preparing for Puberty”.

As a parent, one of the most awkward conversations to have is the chat about puberty or helping your child understand where they came from. So why not hear from our experienced Interrelate Educators and learn strategies, tips, and tricks to help? With generations of experience helping parents tackle the hard conversations and the awkward questions, let us support you!

We know the importance of learning with your child! That’s why participation in our “Where Did I Come From?” and “Preparing for Puberty” online programs are for you and your child. Our expert Educator will approach the topics of puberty, personal safety and protective behaviour using language your child understands and can relate to.

Can’t make our May session?
