Levels 3 & 4

Level 3 Update
What a crazy term Level 3 have had in the lead up to NAPLAN. The students and teachers have spent so much of their time learning strategies, skills and information in fun ways in order to give NAPLAN their best shot possible. The Level 3 teachers are so incredibly proud of the effort all the students have put in. They all tried their absolute best, what superstars! To celebrate, Level 3 had the best time having a picnic and exploring the brand new Yabbi Hill Playscape in Jells Park. Well done Level 3 on completing your first NAPLAN!
Level 4 Update
The Level 4 students have been super busy these last two weeks. We have been investigating the language of chance and determining the probability of independent and dependent tests. Students engaged in a hands-on maths investigation which required them to create fete games using provided probability outcomes. Students made “Go Fishing”, a “Marble Run” and a “Ball Toss” game. They then had to test if the outcomes were correct given the probability. We even had Mr Oakey come down and join in. He was very impressed and even challenged Mr Noordhoff to make the “Marble Run” even more difficult!
On Tuesday afternoons, we have timetabled boy/girl time. Students participate in team building tasks and discuss any issues, challenges or successes they have at school or at home. Last week the girls were challenged to work within a small team to keep their balloon from hitting the ground. Problem was, they had to link hands and not let go! It was thoroughly enjoyed all.
As part of our inquiry unit “Beneath our Feet”, we have been learning all about the relationship between the sun, earth and moon. Students were thrilled to demonstrate the 8 phases of the moon using Oreos, which they happily ate at the end of the session.
