Principal's Message

Our children are our future...

Welcome Teddy (Ms Lucy's Newborn Son)

Ms Lucy and her husband Jagen are very excited to announce the safe arrival of their baby boy, Teddy James. Teddy arrived bright and early last Sunday morning. Lucy and Teddy are both doing very well and enjoying getting to know one another in their love bubble at home. Isn’t he just gorgeous?

Principal's Message

What great news about Ms Lucy, huh? Another little treasure enters the world.

Our community made it through another term together. It had its challenges, with Remote Learning again playing a feature in our lives due to COVID. Well done to all of you for showing kindness and generosity in supporting South Melbourne Primary School - in particular its staff and our wonderful students. You were brave, kind and courageous throughout. We are grateful for your support.

We finish off this week with Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews on Thursday via Webex. Remember that no classes will run onsite to allow for teachers to interview each family. OSHClub is available for those who need supervision for their child.

I am so proud to be the principal at South Melbourne PS. The students are the big tick, but I am also blessed to have the best staff ever assembled along with parents who just "get it." Our families support education and the programs at the school in general. I feel so lucky and I cannot thank you enough.

I hope you all have some time to spend with your wonderful children over the break. Remember that our first full day of classes is Tuesday, July 13 due to our last Curriculum (Pupil Free) Day of the year occurring on the first Monday back.

Our first Term 3 iNewsletter will be sent to you on Saturday, July 10 in preparation for the new term. Stay safe and be kind.

Fishermans Bend Secondary College (Interim Name)

The Victorian Government is delivering 100 new schools across the state between 2019 and 2026, including the new Fishermans Bend Secondary College opening in 2022. Engage Victoria  is the Victorian Government’s online consultation platform. It gives the Victorian community an easy to find, central point of contact to be involved in government decisions.

We are looking for a school name that reflects the local community, inspires local pride and makes the school easily locatable. Naming a public building requires approval from relevant authorities and consideration of Aboriginal languages, alongside other guiding principles.

Have a say in naming Fishermans Bend SC by visiting the following page between 11 June and 25 June 2021.

Important Dates - Book OSHClub if needed

It is very important to note the following dates as it involves your support:

  • Thursday, June 24: Parent-Teacher-Child Interviews via Webex
    • You have to make a booking to see your child's teacher via Compass
    • There are no classes on that day so your child either stays home with you or you book into OSHClub
  • Friday, June 25: Last Day of School (2:30pm dismissal)
    • This is an early finish so arrange to pick up your child at 2:30pm
    • If you can't manage to get there by 2:30pm, then book into OSHClub as staff will have a meeting when students are dismissed and there will not be supervision provided
  • Monday, July 12: Curriculum Day (student free)
    • No classes run as we take our last Student Free Curriculum Day for the year on the first Monday back after the holidays

OSHClub web site: https://www.oshclub.com.au/ to make bookings for any of these days

Have a safe and happy holiday when the time comes.

Noel
