Reading At Home

Is your child reading at home? Have a chat with them about what they are reading at school, and encourage them to bring their book home to read there too.

A student who reads for 20 minutes everyday is exposed to approximately 1,800,000 words per school year.

A student who reads for five minutes every day is exposed to approximately 282,000 words per school year.

Library Loans

Just a reminder that library loans are for two weeks only and students are expected to renew or return their books after this time.  Whilst we don’t charge overdue fines, if your book is long overdue you will need to pay for a replacement.  Students now receive reminder emails two days prior (Reminder Notice), three days and 14 days overdue, which should make keeping up to date easier.  After this point parents will be contacted.

Year 7 borrowing

We hope to have the Yearn 7 library accounts ready for borrowing by the end of this week.  In the interim, students can select a book to be stored in the library for reading classes, or bring a book from home.  Year 7 ePlatform (eBook library) accounts should also be ready in the next week.

Lunchtime/Recess Activities

With our current run of hot weather the JRC is the coolest place to be at recess and lunchtime!  We have lots of board games on offer, grab a book, get on the web or just have a chat with friends.

Friday is a busy day in the JRC, with Chess Club (with Mr Jacob Givogue) running at lunchtime from 1.00 - 1.30 pm.

Homework Club

Our new library furniture has arrived!

Take a look at our fantastic ‘new’ library!  Our new booth, high bench and lounge seating has been a huge hit and has created a more spacious and modern aesthetic.   We’re still fine tuning the space, but it’s looking amazing!
