A note from the Assistant Principal

Dear CHPS community,

Today we saw a sea of orange following through the school gates as the school marked 2023 Harmony Day. Harmony day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. At Clifton Hill Primary School we wore orange to show our support of these values that closely align with those of our school.

This week we also launched our second Colour Run event which is to take place on Tuesday April 4th. Last year was, to quote one of our students, “the best day ever at school”, and this year promises to bigger and even better! With giant inflatables to run under, a life-sized fun cheetah mascot bringing on the fun, a special lunch day and other fabulous activities that are yet to be announced! Our Colour Run is our second largest fundraiser, and we look forward and thank the school community for your continued support of our fundraising efforts. We will again partner with Djirra for families who wish to donate their prizes. Djirra assists Indigenous families in need and use the prizes to donate to families who may be affected by family violence.  You can register your intent to donate your prizes to Djirra here.

It has been lovely seeing the students of all year levels playing together in the gaga pit before and after school and welcome parents to the yard to observe the game in action. I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to read our Child Safety Code of Conduct policy which can be found on our school website.

This policy outlines the rights and responsibilities of students, staff and parents in our community.  It is a document that underpins the way we expect everyone to interact within our school community, regardless of whether they are on the school grounds or not.  Interactions on and outside the school grounds should be conducted with respect and in a manner that is not threatening or intimidating, and which support our school values.

Looking forward to seeing you around the school and encourage you to come over and say hi at the school gate.
