WELLBEING
I am sure you have noticed the days are darker in the morning and the air is a little crisp! This can make the mornings challenging for our students and parents. Perhaps the following rituals might assist you in making a more positive start to the day! You can give one a go or all of them.
Neurodiversity Week will be held from the 13th-19th March. During this week students will be involved in stories and activities that celebrate the unique differences and strengths of all students in our community.
Harmony Day will also be celebrated at St James on the 21st March. Students are asked to dress in something that symbolizes their National Attire. Eg wear the colours of the country of origins flag or wear traditional dress.
WHY WE LOVE HARMONY DAY
- It celebrates diversity
With its motto ‘Everyone belongs’, Harmony day reminds us to appreciate everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. - You can celebrate your own way
There’s no set way to celebrate Harmony Day, and everyone is encouraged to mark it in the way that makes them happy, from getting together over tea to wearing national attire. - It unites cultures
Harmony Day is all about loving and understanding different cultures and ways of life, and seeing how they can fit together. You may be surprised by what other cultures have to teach you!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Project Compassion - For All Future Generations
Spanning across the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
It is a long standing tradition at St James as one of our Social Justice initiatives during the year, to support Project Compassion. During Lent we are asked to commit to fasting, prayer and almsgiving. We encourage families to make their own Lenten promises as we journey through this time together.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Thank you to all the families that attended our preparation evening last week. Students continue their preparations to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday 29th March. We look forward to Fr Andrew visiting the Year 3 students tomorrow morning.

If there are any parents that require dates or a letter confirming sacraments, please email eherbert@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au and I will be able to provide that information for you.
