OzCLO

The Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad (OzCLO) is a two-hour online competition about language for Secondary School students. The contest challenges students to develop their own strategies in teams of four to solve a range of language-analysis problems about fascinating, real-life languages. This year, Emmaus had 28 students involved from Year 7 through to Year 10.

Congratulations to these students for achieving outstanding results.

Australian Mathematics Trust Registrations are Now Open

The Computational and Algorithmic (CAT) Competition is a one-hour competition held in Term 2, on 2-4 May (exact day and time TBC).

Registrations are now open for Students in Year 5 to Year 10 from both our Brooklyn Park and South Plympton campuses.

The Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition gives students the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills through algorithmic thinking. The competition incorporates unique ‘three-stage tasks’ that encourage students to develop informal algorithms and apply them to test data of increasing size or complexity. CAT is suitable for any maths class and requires no programming experience. It can be used to develop students’ interest and potential in computer programming. The CAT contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators, academics and industry experts to challenge and extend your students’ problem-solving skills.

If your child would like to take up this extension academic challenge, email Susanne Milne, smilne@emmauscc.sa.edu.au, for a registration form or ask your child to speak to their Maths teacher as they also have hard copies.

Cost: $8 per competition

Registration Due: Friday 31 March
