Cebula Boarding

Boarding News

On Wednesday we celebrated our House feast day.  The boys began the morning with Mass where they were reminded of the Cebula values of Charity, Excellence, Brotherhood, Understanding, Leadership and Action by Fr Bill in his homily.  Cebula Captain, Julian, also spoke about Fr Jozef Cebula, after whom our boarding community is named. Celebrations continued throughout the day with a pizza lunch and swim and a special boarding dinner complete with a very popular slushie machine.

Life skills training is an important part of a boarding experience and we’ve been very fortunate to be able to offer the boys the opportunity to complete their Skippers Ticket. Part one of the programme, the theory component, took place last week in the College Library and next weekend the boys will be out on the water at Hillary’s for the practical component.

It has been very pleasing to see several of our boys excel both in the classroom and in their approach to being involved and proactive members of our College and boarding community.  Well done to Year 7s, Max and Julian, who were selected to be a part of the Lower School Leadership group for Semester 1, 2023. This Friday they will take part in the College’s annual Leadership Program. The day is designed to provide an opportunity to develop confidence, as well as social, team building and leadership skills.

Congratulations also to Merrick, Angus, Rhys, Tyler, Will, Jackson and Andre for being so diligent and focussed on their studies and putting 100% effort into everything they do.

Our Year 12s, too, despite their busy schedules have been actively supporting the “Hands of Eugene” program visiting Mary’s Mount Primary School on Tuesday mornings to assist the younger students with maths and reading.

The winter sport season is well and truly up and running with many of the boarders now involved with football and hockey training commitments in readiness for the season to commence in early Term 2 and we look forward to some great games and performances by our Cebula boys.
