Round One

Hi everyone and thank you for taking part in the Mazenod Old Boys Association 2023 Footy Tipping Competition.

As is always the case, Round One of the season produced a number of upsets and some people will feel pretty hard done by. However, we had nine people who managed to pick seven winners with a further 28 people picking six winners. Of the nine people who managed to pick seven winners, Leanne McLeish was seven points off the draw in the season opener between Carlton and Richmond and as such wins the weekly prize of $50.  Congratulations Leanne.

Round Two

Round Two starts on Thursday with Carlton v Geelong – should be a belter;

Brisbane v Melbourne – Brisbane fell in a hole after half time and Melbourne looked every bit Premiership favourites in Round one.  Home ground advantage is the only thing that would make you tip Brisbane;

Collingwood v Port Adelaide – Two of the sides to really impress in Round one.  Can the young Port Adelaide midfield back it up at the MCG?

Adelaide v Richmond – Adelaide fell apart in the second half against GWS, while Richmond played out a draw with Carlton.  Again will home ground advantage be decisive?

Western Bulldogs v St Kilda – An undermanned St Kilda had a great first up win over Fremantle and despite the Bulldogs losing in Round one this would be an even bigger upset;

Fremantle v North Melbourne – Fremantle will look to bounce back after a disappointing first up loss, while North will hope to build on their win over the Eagles;

Sydney v Hawthorn – Hard to find a single reason that Hawthorn will win this game;

Essendon v Gold Coast – Again, on paper, one of the easiest tips you’ll get to make all year; and

West Coast v GWS – West Coast will look to make amends for a very disappointing first up performance.  GWS has a couple of stars missing (Kelly and Whitfield) but will still very much fancy their chances.
