Australian Ballet

Over the past two weeks, selected students from years 7-12 had the opportunity to work with The Australian Ballet Education Team. Dance workshops were conducted at the Shepparton Sports Stadium, observing COVID regulations, and students collaborated to create a dance piece with professional dancers which will be edited together to make a twelve minute film. Our students did a fantastic job at the rehearsals and performing for the camera at iconic Shepparton spots such as: The Mooving Art Cows (Monash Park), The Victoria Park Lake, The Botannic Gardens and Jordan’s Bend bridge.

Students had the chance to work with an Indigenous Cadet and to create movement based on the theme “connection to place”.  Students also had the chance to be a part of a study into the impact of dance on community, mental health and education, being conducted by La Trobe University. Congratulations to all of the students who took part!

A big thank you to Mrs. Cameron for all of her assistance with the intensive program.

I wish we could do dance every day”
