Sovereign Hill Excursion

Year 9 students recently enjoyed an immersive excursion to Sovereign Hill, delving into the captivating world of the Victorian gold rush era. This educational journey provided a comprehensive experience of the past.

During the excursion, students participated in gold panning and mining, witnessing the thrill of finding hidden treasures. They also observed a mesmerizing gold pouring demonstration, gaining insights into the refining process. 

Adding to the adventure, students indulged in a confectionery demonstration, witnessing the creation of traditional sweets and candies. They also practised 9-pin bowling and explored the Chinese Camp, Chinese Temple, Italian Camp and Government Camp, providing valuable glimpses into diverse cultural influences and governance structures of the era. 

This excursion deepened the Year 9 students' appreciation for Victorian history and offered a comprehensive view of the gold rush era. Their engagement with various activities and cultural aspects at Sovereign Hill fostered a lasting connection to this captivating period in Australia's past.
