Principal's Report

WELCOME TO MISS MORAN AND MR GONZALEZ

Recently we’ve had 2 new teachers start at our school, those being Kirrily Moran and Nick Gonzalez.  Kirrily has replaced Michelle Probert and Nick has taken over from Kate Tucker.  Both Kirrily and Nick have been teaching in the Melton area, but live locally, so are enjoying a short commute to work.  We welcome Kirrily and Nick to the team and hope they enjoy being part of the Buninyong Primary School community.  Attached is a photo with Kirrily and her class.  We’ll grab a photo of Nick with his class when he’s back after a brief absence.

STATEWIDE PRINCIPALS CONFERENCE

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the Principal’s Conference for 2023, which was held at the Convention Centre in Melbourne.  For many years, the Department of Education Training has run an annual Principals Conference, which normally would run for 2 days.  However, lots of schools are facing staffing pressures (like ourselves), so the conference was reduced to 1 day.

The conference presents an opportunity for our system leaders to explain state-wide priorities and set the scene for the year ahead.  As you’d expect, a theme that featured across the day was the wellbeing of all in school communities (students, staff and parents). The conference also includes the sharing of best practice and hearing from keynote speakers.

The conference themes were relevant to all schools and attendees left with a clear picture of core work over the coming 12 months.

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING CHAMPS

Last week we had a large contingent compete at the regional cross country in Warrnambool.  Each of our representatives ran very well, with 2 qualifying to run at state level, those being Nick Blunden and Lenny Templar.  Congratulations to all of our runners and all the best to Nick and Lenny as they prepare for the state cross country in July.

WINTER COATS

With winter well and truly here, some of you will be thinking about purchasing a coat for your child.  Please remember that if a child wears a coat, a school coat or black coat is recommended. School coats are available from the uniform shop.

All uniforms can be purchased using Qkr, in which case we deliver the purchased item to your child.  If you’d like to come in with your child to try things for size, please call the ladies in the office to arrange a time.
