Our wonderful ensembles and Year 12 musicians entertained an appreciative audience on Thursday 8 June at the Senior School Music Festival, which featured repertoire from classical to jazz and contemporary. They were treated to an evening of outstanding performances from concert band, orchestra, stage band, string orchestra, choirs, strings and brass ensembles, chapel band and soloists in a relaxed cabaret atmosphere. Our sincere thanks to all those who contributed to this successful evening. Bravo to our wonderful musicians!
Stage Band played to an enthusiastic and vocal audience in a packed venue at the Winter Jazz Festival on 9 June. Students played an hour set featuring a range of jazz styles from trad jazz to Latin and funk. Audience members commented on the high standard of our musicians; our students were fabulous ambassadors for Kinross Wolaroi and staff were super proud of their efforts.
Drama and Music students from Years 9 – 12 recently showcased their considerable performance skills to a large and appreciative audience of parents and friends. Students from these classes performed both individual and group works that had been prepared in Drama and Music classes; HSC Music 1 students showcased their HSC performance repertoire, accompanied by our wonderful visiting staff – Mr Matt Arthur, Mr Luke Ferguson and Mr David Shaw. Congratulations to our amazing students and thanks to Performing Arts staff for their work in preparing these performances.
Our Year 7 – 10 Concert Band students recently participated in a 90 minute workshop with The Arts Unit Wind Orchestra. Students worked with members of The Arts Unit ensemble, under the direction of Mr Steve Williams (conductor of the Schools Spectacular orchestra).
We are excited that our Orchestra, Chamber Strings and Stage Band will be conducting a one-day tour to Eugowra and Young tomorrow. We will be performing three concerts – one in Eugowra for students of St Joseph’s Primary and Eugowra Public schools and two in Young, at Young Public School followed by an evening performance at Young Town Hall. This tour will provide our students the opportunity to develop their performance and ensemble skills, as well as strengthening their ability to work in a cohesive team. Families are reminded that students are required to meet at the Allenby Road entrance at 7am tomorrow morning.
