Dear Wyndham Central College community,

There is a wealth of information in this newsletter so please take the time to read through the relevant reports that may affect your child and I hope you enjoy reading about the many achievements of the students at Wyndham Central College. There are many examples, throughout this newsletter, where our students have participated and excelled in many different areas. It is always pleasing to see when student’s make the most of the opportunities offered to them and when they achieve their best.

Parents of Year 7 and 9 students will be receiving information regarding their results from the NAPLAN testing that occurred in March this year. Please contact the school if you have any questions or if you don’t receive the NAPLAN package.

Schools Survey’s

We have now received the raw data for the Student Attitudes to Schools Survey from the Department of Education (DoE) which all students participated in last term. The school improvement team has commenced working on the survey results and this will include gaining input from our students and the Student Representative Council (SRC).  School staff have also just completed a DoE staff opinion survey which will give us further data to assist in further improving Wyndham Central College.

Last week, our pathways team, led by Ms. Pina Siragusano, organised a pathways week for all year’s 8-12 students.  We held subject tasters, a pathways expo, as well as having presentations by tertiary providers, including the Police and Defence force.  We would like to thank the parents who attended our subject displays and all student selections should now have been submitted, via our Web Preferences, for processing for next year.

We have also completed our selection process for our AVID elective, STEM Academy, Spanish Immersion Program (SIP), Enrichment program, Sports Football (soccer) Academy, the VCE/VM and the VCE Integrated program (VIP) and students will find out the outcome of these, if not already done, shortly.
