Week 2, Term 3
Welcome to Term 3! Despite the cold and wet weather, the Year 3/4s had an amazing time at Camp Campaspe Downs in Kyneton. We completed a variety of activities including Flying Fox, Obstacle Course, Possum Glider, Laser Tag, Raft Building, Sensory Trail, Aeroball and Intiatives Activities.
We would like to say a special thankyou to our parent helpers Luke Stewart, Damien Jones, Danielle Monti, Kylie Beyen and Dean Hargreaves-Peita (and to all those who volunteered to help). We could not have done this without you!
A massive thankyou also to Miss Green for her fantastic organisation of this wonderful camp, Mr Parkes for taking care of all our medical needs while away and to the rest of the Year 3/4 staff for their work in making this trip an enjoyable time for everyone.
There has been a slight change to our homework schedule as you may have noticed in our reminders section of the newsletter.
As of Week 3 we will be replacing Studyladder with completing 30 minutes of TT Rockstars each fortnight. Students have access to this program on their netbooks and have already used it in the classroom. Please see your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Our Scienceworks Excursion has been released on Compass with important information and key times. Please provide consent and payment as soon as possible if you are happy for your child to attend.
Medical forms have also been sent out this week. Please fill in the relevant information and return them to your child's teacher. Thankyou!
This term, students have been practising how to write reviews on a variety of different books. We are asking that all students bring along their favourite picture story book from home by Monday, 24th July so that they can complete a review on it. Thankyou for your help with this!
Mathematics: In Week 3, students will continue to explore 'Time' in Fluid Groups. We will then explore 'Money' during Week 4. During Applied Maths, we will look at 'Shape Transformations' and 'Mapping'.
Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will choose a scientist to research and present an informative piece of writing about him or her! In Reading, we will complete a book review on one of our favourite picture story books from home.
Topic: In our new Topic unit, 'Forces and Functions', students will explore a variety of different forces and complete a number of experiments to show how they work.
