Term 3, Week 2

100 Days of School

On Wednesday the 2nd of August, we will have our 100th day of school. To celebrate we invite students to dress up as if they are 100 years old. Get creative with glasses, hair and outfits - we can't wait to see our little people looking 100 years old. 

 

Some inspiration from last year: 

100 objects on our 100th Day

Next week, we will be sending home a zip lock bag. Please fill this bag with 100 small objects- think cards, pasta, beads etc. We will use this to compare what 100 objects looks like in the same size bag, and we will be counting these on the 100th day before they go home. 

What we have been up to...

Responsible Pet Program

On Wednesday in week one, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Tracey and Dave. We learnt what to do when an angry dog comes up to us:

  1. Stand still
  2. Put our hands by our sides
  3. Be quiet as a mouse
  4. Look at the ground

And we learnt a safe way to meet a dog:

  1. Walk up slowly and stop
  2. Ask the owner if we can pat their dog
  3. Let the dog smell our hand
  4. Pat the dog on the back gently.

 

Maths

Over the last 2 weeks we have been learning about Place Value. We know that 10 ones make 1 ten and we are practising counting groups of tens by saying 1 ten, 2 tens, 3 tens, 4 tens etc. Using paddle pop sticks, unifix, counters and match sticks, we have been making groups of 10 ones and exchanging them for 1 ten, to recognise that it is the same amount but can be counted much easier in groups of ten. 

Upcoming Fortnight

Week 3

Literacy: 

We will be reading the story Wombat Stew, learning the heart word 'see' and learning all about the sound that 'ff' makes. 

 

Mathematics: 

We will be learning about sharing and odd and even numbers.

 

RRRR: Stress Management- Positive Play

 

Topic: 

We will be learning about mammals. 

 

Week 4

Literacy: 

We will be reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, learning the heart word 'me' and learning to add -s to words. 

 

Mathematics: We will be learning about days of the week, months of the year and what we do during each day. 

 

Topic: 

We will be learning about mini-beasts.
