Deputy Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Pyjama Day

Our Year 6 Wellbeing Leaders have organised a Pyjama Day for next Friday 21st July

Our pyjama day coincides with a fundraising initiative organised by the Pyjama Foundation, which aims to raise money to support children in foster care. We will make a donation to the Pyjama Foundation on behalf of St Finbar's.

The Year 6 leaders will also use this day to educate the students about the importance of good sleep habits to assist with positive mental health. We can't wait to see everyone in their pyjamas next Friday.

Stress Management

As part of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relations program, our whole school focus for the first half of this term is Stress Management (Topic 5).  Stress is a normal part of life, especially as children get older. Research shows that children who cope better with life's stressors develop good mental health and well-being. Assisting students to recognise their own personal signs and symptoms of stress and develop strategies to deal with them effectively will help them cope with challenges in the future.

Classroom activities may include things like practising self-calming and self-control strategies through games,  or class discussions around the types of things that may cause stress for people.
