Greetings from Julie

Our Wonderful Community!

It was great to see everyone enjoy themselves at the annual end-of-year school picnic. Our school motto of “collaborative learning in a community that cares” is very evident in all we say and do and the positive interactions we have with one another. Thank you also to the tireless efforts of the community fund-raising team – keeping it up until the very end!

Reports

Your child/ren’s reports will be available on COMPASS from 4pm on Thursday 9th December. If you need any help accessing COMPASS, please ask for assistance at the front office.

2022 Classes

It’s that exciting time of the year where our students have met their 2022 teacher and classmates. On Tuesday all students spent two sessions with their 2022 class and teacher in their new classroom. Students began and finished the day in their current class to provide an opportunity for students to reflect on their day. We hope the experience for your child/ren was an enjoyable one.

Please see your child’s teacher or a member of the Leadership team if you have any questions.

School Production

We are very excited about the upcoming stream of the 2022 NPS Production, “The Lizard of Aus”. It was a great experience for the students to see what it is like to be on a film set. We are very grateful to all the people who have contributed their time to make this happen.

2022 NPS Annual Implementation Plan (AIP)

Next year is the last year of the NPS School Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is a document that guides our practice over a period of four years, in our case, from 2018 – 2022. The school strategic plan sets out the actions will take to strengthen our vision of “Collaborative Learning in a Community that Cares”. The following are the goals we set ourselves:

  • Build the capacity of all staff to use evidence based high-impact teaching strategies
  • Build teacher capacity to evaluate impact on learning
  • Empower students and foster school pride
  • Increase student intellectual engagement and self-awareness
  • Parents and carers as partners in learning

Over the past term, we have been busy listening to feedback and setting priorities for the 2022 NPS annual Implementation Plan, in order to further progress on our continuous journey of self-improvement. We have set the following key actions for 2022 in the areas of learning and wellbeing:

Some of our students have thrived in the remote learning environment, others have maintained their learning progress, and some need extra support despite the best efforts of teachers and families. In 2022 we will continue to focus on student learning – with an increased focus on numeracy – and student wellbeing.

  • Support from the tutor Learning Initiative will continue in 2022.
  • There will be a continued focus on student voice, agency and leadership as research shows that this directly positively impacts student learning and wellbeing.
  • The ongoing development of sustainable and effective partnerships between teachers, parents and families.

If you would like to provide feedback about the strategic direction of NPS, please email me or drop in for a chat.

Parent Payments

Yesterday, the Northcote Primary School’s voluntary financial contributions for 2022 schedule was sent out via Compass and email. The ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students, allowing us to offer a wider offering of subjects and special curriculum experiences and enhance digital learning opportunities.

These fees are payable week two of term one, 2022. We are unable to accept payments earlier.

If you would like a copy, please ask at the office.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Just a reminder that BYOD devices need to be ordered by January 3rd, 2022 at the latest, for those grade 3/4 students choosing this option.

Learning With Technologies (LWT) have set up a Northcote Primary School BYOD parent portal that can be accessed through this link LWT BYOD Portal. The portal has the devices that Northcote Primary School has nominated to best meet the curriculum and technical requirements of students.

Child Safe

Northcote Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Northcote Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to providing a child safe environment.
