Australian String Quartet (ASQ) in the Simons Auditorium this Sunday 2pm

Please join us for this free conversational recital from 2 -3pm Sunday - Simons Auditorium, Kantor Family Music and Performing Arts Centre. The Music Faculty has been in discussions for some time about the ASQ visiting College and working with our students. More than once the pandemic got in the way. 

We apologize for the short notice, but we are taking this opportunity before the year is finished and welcome you to attend this Sunday. All adults must be double vaccinated and QR scan upon arrival.  The recital will be followed by a short workshop, which audience members are welcome to stay for.

Examinations: A positive culture

As the Senior School, students begin academic examinations and many music students have completed AMEB music examinations, either live face to face or via recorded submission.  Whilst all students and teachers involved in the study of music, and anyone who has ever played a musical instrument can attest, music performance makes us accountable for our learning and preparation.  It is easy to marvel at the mastery, ‘oh they are so talented’, but let us not neglect or disrespect the dedication and application to the task, that has been requested and delivered.  Yes, we do sometimes reach a state of flow and allow our emotions, but the majority of the practice of music is good old-fashioned hard work and application.  What has been evident during the music examination process is the positive culture that we have developed.  Students have been aware that the examination is a time to thrive and to enjoy the process of demonstrating the skill that they have attained through their study of music. To all our students who have developed a disciplined and sustained work ethic, and to all our teachers who have instructed, guided and supported our young musicians - well done!
