From the Principal

Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Families,

WE ARE BACK and there is laughter, a buzz and lots of happy, smiling faces, not only from our children but our staff and families as well. Our children have settled in extremely well and they are getting used to their normal class routines. I’ve asked lots of our children what they prefer - learning from home or school and school is always the answer.

Last Friday we celebrated World Teachers Day and over the past two years our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure your children have been learning, engaged and motivated to keep going, even when things were tough for them. All our teachers, myself included, entered this very special profession to be able to develop a love of learning amongst our children. We love the interaction with our children, their questions, their inquisitive and creative minds and most importantly, their individual personalities. When our children returned back to our classes our teachers were reminded why they entered this wonderful profession. I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their dedication. I also thank you for the trust you put in each of our staff members as we work in partnership to assist our children to do amazing things!

I would like to reassure you we are closely following the Health Department’s guidelines to ensure we are being as safe as we possibly can. Parents are now permitted onto the ground to drop off and collect their children. If you are on the grounds for more than 15 minutes I ask that you use the QR code to sign in. Parents are not permitted to enter any buildings unless you have signed in at the Office and your vaccination status has been sighted by a Staff member. Parents who are not double vaccinated are not permitted to enter any buildings. A reminder that if you enter the Office you must be wearing a mask.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

We continue to focus on our expectations at St Anne’s. Our focus for the remainder of the year will be RESPECT. If our children are being respectful they are considering the feelings of themselves and others through their actions and words.

Our focus in our classrooms will be using our manners at all times. We will be reminding our children to remember to say please and thank you. Address one another by their name as well as asking them how others are going. This focus seems fairly easy but it is important that our children show respect to others. If our children are respectful they are accepting others for who they are, even when they’re different or you don’t agree with them. When our children are respectful to their friends, the relationship between them grows stronger as there is a sense of trust, safety and wellbeing.

At home you can support us by encouraging your children to use manners, say thank you, please and call you by your name. Unfortunately, we cannot assume our children will automatically show respect. It is something we need to teach them.

School Fees

School Fees have recently been sent to you. If you are experiencing any difficulties please contact Nicole Asciak, our Bursar. I have been asked about your excursion levies. Any money that has not been used will be reimbursed. This will differ for each level as some classes were able to participate in some excursions or incursions before we were locked down.

School Advisory Council

Expressions of Interest

St Anne’s is looking for parents to join our School Advisory Council. We have several members of our Council whose tenure will be completed at the end of 2021. The role of the Council  to support the Principal, Parish Priest and leadership team of the school.

While no particular expertise is required, the school seeks a range of diverse skill sets to best advise the principal, united by a desire to provide the best possible education for our students.

A balanced membership with parent voice on the School Advisory Council is well placed to advise the principal about important matters particularly related to the school’s mission and the students’ success.

The needs of the council will be given priority in terms of ensuring a balance of gender, cultural diversity and skill sets.

Therefore we are calling on you to express your interest in being part of the School Advisory Council.   If you wish to be part of this exciting and important group of parents in our school, we would welcome your application in writing to Ms Noelene Hussey  by November 24th

I leave with a quote from a very wise man who recently passed away at the age of 101. Eddie Jaku was a holocaust survivor and has experienced and seen horror and tragedy that few of us could imagine. His message might be something we think about as our lives return to some normality

"Your efforts today will affect people you will never know. It is your choice whether that effect is positive or negative. You can choose every day, every minute, to act in a way that may uplift a stranger, or else drag them down.

The choice is easy.

And it is yours to make."

Australian Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku, in his book. 'The Happiest Man on Earth'.

Jaku died 12th October aged 101.

God Bless,

Ms Noelene Hussey
