Dear Parents/Caregivers,

With the end of the year fast approaching, there is a lot to celebrate and be grateful for.  At the start of this term, we attended the Celebration of Excellence Awards Ceremony. This is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of students throughout the year, in all aspects of College life – academic, cultural, sporting and Home Room.  It was lovely this year to have the entire Mount Alvernia College student community together again to celebrate this event. Congratulations to all year 10 students who received an award.

You have received an email outlining the last day of term celebrations on Thursday 25 November from 3:05pm – 5.30pm. This is a compulsory school event, where girls will celebrate together after an incredible year.  The girls are very excited about this event and I look forward to celebrating with them.

On Wednesday 10 November, Samantha Jensen and myself had the pleasure of attending the Lord Mayor’s Young Environmental Leadership Network (LMYELN) Graduation Showcase. This was an opportunity for Caitlin Howard, Elizabeth Johnson and Jessica Chripczuk Morales to display and discuss their project that they have been working on all year. I would like to thank their family members for coming to support the students during the show case.

Congratulations to the Year 10 students on a wonderful, yet busy year. I am sure the year 10 cohort would agree that Year 10 has been unpredictable and challenging at times however, overall enjoyable and rewarding. It has been a pleasure to watch the girls flourish in their social, academic and personal development over the year.

A special thank you to the Clare school leaders - Lily Ryan, Erin Winstanley, Sophia Papantoniou, Alice Kelly, Tia Kinghorn and Eden Cook - for their hard work organising activities, assisting in year level assemblies and support throughout the year.

As this is the last Parent Corner for this year, I would like to wish all students the best of luck for their final assessments and the remainder of the term. It has been an absolute pleasure to be their Clare School Pastoral Guardian.  I have enjoyed watching each student grow into a mature and resilient young adult by embracing new experiences and challenges, with a confidence and determination to achieve their best.  I wish you all the best for your senior years. Please see below some happy snaps of Year 10 students from this year.

I hope your family has a happy, healthy and relaxing Christmas and break.

“Happiness is not the result of bouncing from one joy to the next; achieving happiness typically involves times of considerable discomfort. It’s more than simply a positive mood, it’s a state of wellbeing that encompasses living a good life.” Dr Michael Car-Gregg.
