Student Action Team Update

Student Action Team

After some successful fundraising in 2020 the Student Action Team has successfully installed some new bike racks for students to park their bike during class time. It has been fantastic to see so many students starting their day with some exercise.

“Riding is better than walking, it is quicker to ride to school than it is to walk or drive” - Akiko Grade 6

“I like the exercise in the morning, having the bike rack is good because it is close to my room” – Izzat Grade 6

The Student Action Team meets every fortnight and will be discussing future projects. If you have any ideas or feedback, please see your class representative.

Learning Partnership with Roxburgh College

Student Excellence program - The Maths Robotics team has been working every Friday coding Lego Mindstorm robots in moving different directions and angles. This term we will be focusing on sensors including Infra-red, touch and gyroscopic. By using these sensor we will be tackling some challenges in preparation for the First Lego League competition at the end of the year.

To assist with our preparation, Alistair Chapman the STEM Leading teacher from Roxburgh College is working with our team as a coach and challenge partner. His help and guidance has be extremely valuable so far and we look forward to this partnership continuing and expanding.

Tutor Learning Program

The Tutor Learning Initiative is designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our school has engaged in this Initiative and engaged in our first cycle of learning.

The students who have been engaged in targeted intervention have done an amazing job and their results have reflected this. Rohan and Fiona would like to mention a few names below in recognition.
