POLDING SWIMMING CARNIVAL
On Monday we had 10 children travel to Sydney to compete in the Armidale Diocesan swim squad at the Polding Carnival at SOPAC. The children competed against children from other Catholic schools from across the northern half of the state, so the competition was very tough. SPORTSMANSHIP
Over the weekend I had several emails and messages from parents regarding the disappointing sportsmanship displayed by a couple of students representing St Nicholas School. I was very disappointed to hear that this was not only in one sport but three. I believe that it is an honour to represent your school but will not hesitate to withdraw students if they do not maintain the high level of sportsmanship expected by our school. Our mantra 'Manners Matter' is one that must be carried over to the sporting field as much as all other aspects of school. In this age where many sports are not organised by schools, it would be sad to lose those ones that we hold on to.
Thankfully I also received an email from a parent commenting on the outstanding level of sportsmanship displayed at the final weekend of cricket. I know that St Nicholas School students are ALL capable of this level.
CRICKET
The cricket season is now complete. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those mums and dads who stepped up to coach, manage, score and drive children to and from games each weekend. Were are so lucky to have so many parents give up their time to help out with this.
REPRESENTATIVE HONOURS
Often I get emails from parents sharing successes that children have had in their chosen sports outside of school. Due to the fact that there are so many different sports and so many children competing in these it is difficult to publish these successes for fear of missing out on acknowledging a sport or an achievement. I do love hearing about these though and try to speak to the children individually about this. I especially love hearing the sportsmanship stories
