ENVIRONMENT 

KGT (grade 5 Sustainability program). Prepared by Austin and Jesse. 

The KGT groups are made up of all the year 5’s and together we all work very hard to create and make a sustainable school.

On Friday after lunch we meet at the sandpit and split into our three main groups Mr Milan is in charge of the composting and recycling group and Miss Turner’s group is in charge of grounds including lost property and pets.

Finally Ms. Ballot’s KGT group is in charge of gardening and weeding. 

Our goal In KGT is to create an enhanced school environment with lots of natural features. Everyone in KGT has worked and works very persistently. Last week Ms. Ballot’s group all worked together to get rid of all the nasty weeds behind the stadium.  We worked together, had lots of fun and were very happy with the results.

Lastly, all of KGT were so grateful that Tamsin and Karen were working with us. We are so pleased to have their help. Tamsin is a parent at our school and Karen is our school gardener. Karen also works at Melbourne Zoo and we hope to see her there when we go on our visit next term. 

We are also part of a program with CERES and Boroondara Council. In this program we will create a new garden for the school. 

At the moment we are at the planning stage.
