National Ride to School Day

On Friday the 19th of March our school participated in National Ride to School Day by having the kids in BPPS walk or ride to school. Over 70% of our school walked or rode. Once the kids came to school with their bikes, scooters or if they just walked they got a ride to school sticker and got a free piece of fruit. Then they put their bikes and scooters in the hall.

At lunchtime, the children who brought their bikes rode them around the oval. The other children who brought their scooters got to ride them around the synthetic basketball courts. So many of the kids at BPPS had fun riding and walking to school.

There are over 800 schools that participate in this event and over 355,000 students that walk or ride. Ride2School Day helps to save the environment and helps encourage kids to help the environment by riding or walking to school. We are very thankful that Mrs. Tainsh could organise this event for our school.

Care, Learn and Share.

For the last Care, Learn and Share time in Term 1 we organised* a fun activity. We had to make videos about our Care, Learn and Share group. Each group got a set of rules that they had to apply to their videos. All the Care, Learn and Share groups have at least 18 students and 1 teacher.

We asked some students from Erika’s care learn and share group about the activity.

“ I liked how people to talk to the camera about them selves and talk about the Care, learn and share community”-Cobie.

“ Well, I liked when we got to record ourselves from a tree and speak about ourselves”-Harry.

“ I liked ship shark shore and being in front of the camera”-Paris

“I think letting the grade sixes lead the care learn and share activity is a very big privilege and it’s a really bid step from what the school used to do”-Erika

* Care, Learn and Share sessions are part of the BPPS Wellbeing Program and have previously been organised and facilitated by teachers. As part of the Student Leader program in 2021, responsibility has been given to our Grade 6 Leaders to run these fortnightly sessions. In addition, all Leadership Pillars are responsible for creating, planning and organising at least one Care, Learn and Share Session. The video activity described above was the work of the Media Pillar, who are excited about featuring the completed videos throughout this years’ assemblies.
