A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Living Well Learning Well

Welcome back to Term 2. Yesterday our staff focused on how to authentically implement the Living Well Learning Well framework to support each child’s learning. We discussed how to create calm and collaborative classrooms whilst considering the need to have a balance between learning conversations and managing behaviour conversations.

We are truly blessed at St Joey’s to have staff eager to improve their practice and find ways to support all students in a positive manner. This is a wonderful term to witness growth in your child’s learning and I know all the staff are looking forward to ensuring every student feels safe, valued, cared for and respected during their time with us at school.

Welcome back to Term 2!

Sensory Circuit

During the holidays we had a ‘Sensory Circuit’ installed in our playground. This circuit provides a sequence of activities to assist students with the right type of sensory input in order to calm and organise themselves; so they are ready to learn. The circuit helps to develop concentration, balance, co-ordination and movement skills. It is a great way to both energise and settle students into the school day. The paintings and stickers not only brighten up our playground but they are educational and fun!

Anzac Day March

Anzac Day is a very important National Celebration where we as a community stop and reflect on those who have given so much to ensure our country is safe. I encourage all students to join us for Mass this Sunday at 9.30am in St Brigid’s Church and then for the community March. Students need to wear full summer uniform (including school hat) and meet the teachers in front of the Post Office at 10.45am for the march.

Real Talk

I encourage parents of all primary students to attend the Parent/Caregiver Real Talk Information Evening. These sessions are informative, engaging and offer practical advice.
