Year 10 News

Year 10 students have made a good start to the year, as we approach the halfway mark. Students are encouraged to finish assessments and subjects for this semester on a positive note, making sure that they complete all of the required common assessment tasks (CATs). In addition to completing course work, Year ten students also have end of semester exams in Maths, English and Science. One of the purposes for these exams is to prepare students for VCE, where they will have exams in every subject they study.

As we continue in the year the Year 10 team is looking at camp options for the end of term three. Students are being requested to assist in planning activities for this camp. It is hoped that by giving students agency, they will be empowered to take an active role in the camp and what they will do on it.

The first part of the course is food safety and hygiene, then they move onto cooking many and varied items that are sold at school to fund the ingredients for the following cook.

The program develops or consolidates the students fine motor skills, literacy skills (reading, comprehension and writing), numeracy skills (fractions, budgeting, sequencing, weights, measurements), social skills (working in small groups, communication), problem solving skills (planning, time management), hygiene skills (safe food handling) and cooking skills.

Selected Year 9 students will have the opportunity to participate in term 3, and selected Year 8 students in term 4.
