Open Day
Open Afternoon 2022 was an overwhelming success. On Wednesday 4 May we welcomed close to 600 visitors to the school - despite the rain and plummeting temperatures.
This year prospective families were able to choose between taking a guided tour or collecting a map and designing their own adventure based on the areas they were most interested in seeing.
Tours were led by each of our Year 12 Student leaders accompanied by a Year 7 ambassador and a teacher. The tours were so popular we ran out of tour guides in less than an hour and had to ask additional students and teachers to take up the challenge until our tour guides returned for round two.
The Principal’s Address was introduced by our School Captains, Jeremy Chen and Jamie Ryan who spoke of their experiences as students at the school. The highlight of this formal presentation was certainly the speeches delivered by our two Year 7 students, Saachi Trivedi and Coby Verheyan. Saachi spoke about her journey in joining the HAP program and Coby made us all laugh sharing with us the joys of having PE on a Monday knowing you could wear the PE uniform to school and run around with your friends for a period – a great start to any week.
Thank-you to the more than 150 students who participated, doing everything from performing live music, cooking and prepping food to serve, demonstrating Science experiments, running STEM and PE activities, guiding tours and speaking about the many co-curricular and special programs we offer at the school.
A big thank-you to all the parents for coming out in the rain to collect their children at the end of the evening.
