Kildare Hardy Shield Champions

Monday saw the final of the Hardy Shield with Kildare up against arch enemies, Mater Dei. Going in as red-hot favourites, the Kildare boys were shocked by a freakish try to Mater in the first minutes to be down 0-6. The next 10 minutes were all Mater Dei, with Kildare defending the majority. Once the storm had been weathered however, the Kildare machine kicked into gear with 4 unanswered tries to lead 22-6 at the break. The second half was all Kildare from the first set, with another 4 tries for a convincing win 44-6, cementing their position as the dominant Rugby League school for 2022.
Well done to Will McDermott, who received the Player of the Tournament Award, while Kye Wright won the Rick Keast Medal for Best on Ground in the Final.
