School Cross Country

After much deliberation about the weather for the day, Sacred Heart held their annual Cross Country. Many thanks to the parents that came along to Jubilee Oval to cheer on the children, or stood on the track guiding then as they ran past, thankyou. Every child that completed the course in our eyes was a champion on the day.

Congratulations to the children who have been eligible to run at a diocesan level this Friday 6th May in Barraba. We are all so proud of you. Pace yourselves and have fun!

Unfortunately Mrs Goddard is unable to attend on Friday, however the children will be looked after by a staff member from St Frances Xavier Narrabri. When you arrive at the grounds you will need to find the SFX tent where your child will have their name marked as present and they will remain with SFX until your race is over. Please ensure that you see the SFX staff member in charge when taking your child home.

As always, the students will receive their representative shirts on Thursday. Please ensure that your child has a spare shirt to put on when they have finished so that shirts can be collected on Friday before leaving so that shirts can be washed as a collective.

POLDING HOCKEY

Congratulations to Georgia Baird who represented the Armidale Diocese at the Polding Trials in Bathurst last Friday. Georgia played well in her four games.

PSSA TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

At the recent Polding Tennis Trials Molly Murphy was named as a shadow reserve for the girls team. This meant if anyone had to withdraw from the team, she would be called upon to play.

After running the race of her life and winning the Senior Girls race at the School Cross Country on Wednesday, Molly's mum got the phone call they were waiting for.

Molly unfortunately can’t be in two places at once so she has taken the opportunity to represent POLDING at a PSSA (NSW state) Tennis Championships in Rockdale.  We wish Molly all the best in her tennis tournament and look forward to hearing all of her exciting stories throughout the week.

TENNIS FOR SPORT

As part of the Sporting Schools Grant that we have received from the Australian Government, all students from K-6 will be participating in tennis skills sessions for a six week period commencing on Friday 13th May.

Yr 3-6 ~ 11:30am to 12:30pm

K-2 ~ 12:35pm to 1:15pm

Students will be coached by Mr Dale Martin who is a qualified tennis coach from Gunnedah.

Students who have their own tennis racquets are most welcome to bring them each Friday, however if you don't have a racquet the school will provide you with one.

Please ensure that if you have your own racquet that you have your name clearly marked on it.
