Student Attendance

Dear parents, if you child/children will be arriving at school late there is no need to enter this onto Compass, instead we will enter them on to the system when they arrive via the school office.

If you are going to collect your child/children early from school please email their class teacher via Compass, asking them to send your child to the office with their bag at a specific time for you to sign them out.

Unfortunately we are unable to call students over the intercom, unless it is recess, lunchtime or from 3pm.

Start: 8:45am

Finish 3:15pm

Recess 10:45-11:20am

 Lunch 1:15-2:15pm

Thank you to all of the families who have been informing the class teacher's, via Compass, of your children leaving school early, and having them ready at the office for collection. This has relieved the work load in the admin area and is very much appreciated.

Camps, Sports & Excursions Funding (CSEF)

Dear Parents

In 2015 the Victorian Government unveiled a new $148 million initiative to ensure all Victorian students can take part in school trips and sporting activities.  The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend camps, sports and excursions.

Families holding an eligible Centrelink Health Care, Pensioner Concession or Veterans Affairs Gold  card or are a temporary foster parent are able to apply. The cards must be valid as of the first day of term 1(28th January 2022) or term 2 (26th April 2022).

$125 per year will be paid for eligible primary school students. Payments will go directly to the school and be tied to the student.  These funds can only be used for school camps, swimming, excursions, incursions and outdoor education programs.  Any money unspent at the end of the year will carry over to the next school year for the same purpose.

If you are eligible to receive this payment, please collect a form from our school office or down load the form from the attached link

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our office on 5256 1411.

Band Academy Try Outs

Hello,

Our names are Stella Evans and Mieke Critchell and we are Surside Band members.

What happens at band?

In band Mr Murphy and Mr Morzinek teach us new songs to perform. We are working towards performing at GPAC and we will also be performing in the court yard and other places.

What happens in academy?

In academy the band members teach the academy members the songs that they’ve been learning. Therefore academy is a stepping stone to band and if any band members are away, someone from academy will fill in.

How do I get into academy or band?

Prepare a piece of music to sing or play in front of the band at try outs. We are looking to see what skills you have, therefore be prepared so we can see what you have to offer. The band members will then vote to see who gets in.

When: Wednesday lunch times starting week 2 (next week). Try outs will run for 3 weeks, therefore the last week to try out is week 4.

Where: In the music room. Please line up outside the music room until you are asked to come in.

If you have any question please come find us in the yard and we’ll be happy to answers any of your questions. Thanks for reading! We look forward to seeing what you can do!  Stella and Mieke
