Teacher/Student House Competition

On Tuesday 26th November Period 6, all staff and students ventured down to the gym with their house spirit in hand! It was time for the teachers to showcase their role-modelling skills and get involved in some activities. The staff’s outfits were inspired by the students' amazing dress ups throughout the year during House events. The Period consisted of 3 main activities, which required both staff and volunteer students to get involved.

Activity 1: Tunnel Ball

Tunnel Ball fired off to a quick start, seeing teachers and students work together in order to complete the task first. There was plenty of fumbling and shouting as MC (Phil Crouch) commentated on the close race.

The game ended in Wandarra winning by a split second.

Activity 2: Trivia

Trivia began with all teams demonstrating their sound that they would use as their ‘buzzer’. The questions were based around school, so it was delightful to see most contestants knew the answers. Taltarni’s ‘Bok buzzer’ seemed successful as they walked away victorious.

Activity 3: Minute-To-Win-It!

The best is always left until last. This activity required a staff and student to complete 3 stations together at the first station contestants had to get into costume, the second station required balloons to be blown up to knock over plastic cups and the final station involved one participant to eat spaghetti and the other to feed them. A very honourable mention to Jack Peacock for eating a whole tin in record time and to Miss Kerr for not using cutlery to down her spaghetti. Tanaranga, with the best skipping skills and teamwork finished the course in the fastest time.

Overall the winning house for the day was Wandarra by 1 point- a close and exciting finish.

It was a very entertaining and successful afternoon with a lot of cheering and laughter! The afternoon was used to display the type of attributes we hope to see in our school leaders for 2020 and introduce the opening of leadership positions for next year.
