Book Week

Term 3 really is the busiest time and last week’s book week parade is the highlight of every year. We had glorious sunshine and smiles to celebrate our love of books, reading and dressing up. New teachers to our school were so ‘blown away’ by the their colleagues costume efforts.

It was lovely to have our new librarian 'Alice' involved in this event. Our students created a wonderful and creative range of costume themes. Congratulations and thank you to all who made Book Week such a memorable event.

A Generous Gift

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a company who conduct team-building exercises for corporate clients at Marvel Stadium. One of the tasks the clients perform involves  building, programing and racing ‘TankBot’ robots. After the clients have completed the team building sessions they donate the TankBots to a nearby school.

To my great delight, NMPS has been the lucky recipient of 20 Tankbots from this event.  I met the clients and the team building Director and after a brief, but highly engaging thank you speech from me, we loaded the TankBots into my car for their journey back to school. It required two Year 3 classes to bring them all into their new little home. It won't be long  before they will be used for project based learning time.

Just when I thought that was enough excitement,  they offered me another ten tankbots  if I could come to the MCG to collect them. Now we have have a full class set!

Blokes Breakfast

Blokes Breakfast was such a wonderful community event and it was so special to see all the blokes in attendance. Thanks to the Parents & Friend for their work in making this happen.

Year 1 In-school Camp

Thursday 29 August was the Year 1 dinner and stay at school camp. I was very impressed by the unbelievable hip hop dance moves  performed by our students.

The evening meal was catered by the amazing  Sam and Year 5 students in our very own SAKGP Kitchen. The menu included pasta bake and Anzac cookies, which were a real hit! Thanks to Tom and all the teachers who made this event possible.

I am in Adelaide this week at the APPA Conference, so be ready for a few radical changes when I return! I may be compelled to implement new and exciting ideas that I will shamelessly steal from colleagues and presenters.
