A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Building Trust between home and school

At times your child may come home from school upset about something that occurred during the school day. So as a parent, what should you do? Sometimes the first reaction is to explode and place blame on someone else. It is a natural reaction for parents to want to protect their child, however, I suggest you listen to your child, be calm and then contact the school to find out exactly what happened.

At times a child may be upset and staff are not aware of the cause; sometimes a child is upset because they know they did the wrong thing and worry about getting into trouble. Your child may have only told you half the story. Always remember we want what is best for all our students and we will achieve this if we work together. Children will make mistakes and they also need to learn to deal with problems (such as friendship issues) and then move on. Building trust between home and school is a high priority for the staff at St Joey’s so please contact your child’s teacher if you have any concerns. Together we can ensure school is a happy and safe environment for all.

PT & F Meeting

We had a well attended & successful zoom PT & F meeting last week. We discussed our plans for the school garden. Thank you to the parents who generously donated garden beds and soil. We have ordered the beds and gardening equipment.

When the current restrictions are lifted we will set a date for laying the pavers along the front path of the school. I encourage all the school community to support this committee...Have you ordered your school Tote bag or Mangoes yet?

Have a wonderful week

Look after each other
