Borrowing

This year borrowing from the Library will cease on Monday 22 November, and we request that all books be returned by this date. Students are welcome to come and read books in the Library during recess, lunchtimes and before and after school.

Stocktake and Weeding

Next Wednesday we will begin to stocktake our collection in the Resource Centre.

This will go hand in hand with our weeding process. You may ask what library weeding is - yes, it does sound like we are working in the garden.  Much like working in the garden and removing the unwanted plants, the process within the Resource Centre involves removing the unwanted stock in our collection. Below are a few key factors we consider for weeding our resource materials:

  • looks well loved
  • are over 10 years old
  • trends that are finished

We also combined the list above with our circulation data to help us make informed decisions. If a book is looking a bit tired but is in high circulation or used highly in the Resource Centre we then add this book to our replacement list.

Resource Centre Committee 2022

Are you interested in becoming a member of The Resource Committee in 2022? Speak to Miss Height, Mrs Price or Mrs Jepson about what is involved in being a member of the committee and what you need to do to apply.

Book Swap

It's that time of year again! The Great Book Swap is just around the corner and we are asking you, the students, family and staff of Moama Grammar, to declutter your books and donate what you can to the school. The date for our Book Swap is Thursday 25 November, 2021.

A number of our senior school Resource Centre members are combining with members from the Indigenous committee to run a fundraiser for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

When signing up to  join the ILF Great Book Swap, our school was assigned to Maranydjalk House. Please see the fact sheet (https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/raisely-images/great-book-swap/uploads/yolngu-language-pdf-83575e.pdf )

If you would like to make a donation other than the gold coin donation at the Great Book Swap, you can do so through the link below:

New Resource Arrivals

Book Club

WOW! That was a quick turn around, we closed the Book Club LOOP on Thursday and our order arrived on Tuesday.  Most of our orders were distributed on Wednesday this week. I hope everyone has been enjoying their purchases.

Lunch Time Activities

This week Chloe Richards and Toni Ford from the Resource Centre Committee organised and ran some fun lunchtime Halloween activities in the Resource Centre, which included colouring pumpkins, witches hats, spiders/webs.

Year 3-6 IPT

This term Year 6s are completing a collaborative project where they are supporting each other to build and code a Cubit Racer.  Within the last two weeks they built their racers and then began to work with cubit workshops to learn how to code the robot racers.

This term the Year 4s and 5s have been learning to drive spheros. The Year 5s will continue to work with spheros; they will first design and build a maze; then use block coding to guide the sphero around the maze.

Keep reading everyone!
