Primary
From the Primary Office
On Friday 29 October we celebrate our teaching staff who have shown incredible flexibility, courage and resilience, delivering quality education programs during a pandemic. Every day, we should be thankful for the significant role teachers play in the lives of children, students, their families and communities.
World Teachers’ Day allows us to shine the spotlight on, celebrate and thank teachers for the work they do in improving student outcomes and shaping their lives for future success; every year and especially during the challenges faced this past year. So please join us in thanking our dedicated teachers at Moama Anglican Grammar for everything they do each day.
T1D Fundraiser
On Friday 22 October, the Primary School supported the T1D fundraiser which aimed to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Evie and our Year 6 leaders did an amazing job in organising this event and the students (and staff) enjoyed the beats at the lunchtime disco. In total, the school raised $450.00, which is a fantastic result for a great cause.
Commbank School Banking program
The Commbank School Banking program will finish up at the end of this year. Questions around School banking have been in the news for a while and recently, the NSW Government joined a number of state and territory governments by announcing a ban on banks delivering programs in schools. The announcement is based on a report from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). As a result, the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to schools beyond 2021.
Remembrance Day Service
Remembrance Day on 11 November is a time for Australians to unite in solemn respect and remembrance for all those who served and died for our nation. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts. This is a very important day on our MAG school calendar.
On Thursday, our Year 6 Leaders together with the Year 12 Leaders joined Alysha Toohill with the preparation and filming for our upcoming 2021 virtual Remembrance Day service along with our special guest Mr Ken Jones from the local Moama RSL. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions, students will watch our School Remembrance Day service in their individual classrooms.
Core Value Awards
Under the current restrictions, we are unable to gather for whole school assemblies. Instead, our students and teachers have been celebrating students’ achievements through stage assemblies.
Core Value Award are awarded to students who consistently display one or more of the school’s core values and motto. Congratulations to the students listed below who received their Core Value Awards at their stage assembly on Wednesday 27 October.

Squid Game
As fascination with Netflix’s Squid Game grips the world, doctors raise concerns over the nine-episode fictional Korean drama and warn parents not to let their kids watch it. It is not recommended for viewers under the age of 17 due to extreme, frequent and graphic violence; sex scenes; substance use; coarse language.
Given that the series is gaining media attention, the below link includes a review by the Australian Council on Children and the Media and may be of interest to parents as it includes detailed material that may scare or disturb children based on their age.

Persuasive Writing - Year 4
Students of 4P & 4M got the shock of theirs lives this week when their chairs and computers went on strike. Resignation letters were attached and caution picket lines were drawn. Students had to use all their knowledge of persuasive writing techniques to ease the tense situation. Reply letters were drafted using an array of emotive language, persuasive vocabulary and correct text structure, to make an argument for why students deserved to have their beloved chair and computers return to work. I am happy to report that all chairs and computers have since returned to normal programming. Year 4 students have a new found gratitude for some of the creature comforts they use every day.
