Update from the Principal

Reflection on our new School values
In 2022, we consulted with students, staff and parents to identify the core values that underpin our community. We received wonderful feedback which then led to the creation of four values that we want all in the School to recognise and embrace; these values are Respect, Compassion, Perseverance and Curiosity.
Our new values are now highly visible throughout the School. Our aim is for these values to resonate across the community and to guide how we interact with one another and how we approach the opportunities and challenges of school life.
As part of our Character Initiative, the character trait we focused on in Term 1 is Compassion. We define compassion as caring for others, treating them with kindness and helping when they're in need.
It is wonderful to see clear examples of compassion being enacted by our students every day as it continues to be a value long-considered a hallmark of the Kilvington community.
Kilvington’s 100th birthday
This year is Kilvington’s Centenary year. One hundred years ago in 1923, an exceptional mother and her daughter, Caroline and Constance Barrett, trailblazed against all odds to establish what was to become Kilvington Grammar School.
The character traits that drove Caroline and Constance Barrett to establish a school post the Great War and just prior to the Depression are embedded in the School’s culture today.
We have scheduled many wonderful events and activities to help celebrate this wonderful milestone.
Our 100th year also affords a good opportunity to look ahead and set a vision for what we want our School to look like in the future. We know that one constant will be change, and we want to embrace new technologies and modes of assisting our students with their learning moving forward.
Centenary Fair and Open Day
On Saturday 25 March, Kilvington held its hugely successful Centenary Fair and Open Day.
The School was buzzing on the day, with everyone enjoying the vast array of stalls, rides and activities organised by the Parents and Friends Association (PFA).
Our staff and students did an amazing job of leading School tours and showcasing our different departments including Sport, Science, Food Tech, Community Services, Global Connections/Languages, Robotics/Digital Technologies, Performing Arts and the Year 9 Impact Program.
We also had performances by our student musicians to entertain guests throughout the day and had staff volunteering in the 'dunk tank'.
Nearly 200 volunteers gave their time and effort, and almost 600 guests attended school tours. It was amazing to see this event come together and to see so many happy and smiling faces. What a fabulous day!
