Catholic Identity
Welcome to this fortnight’s Catholic Identity section of the newsletter. And what a busy few weeks it is going to be!
Mother’s Day Mass
On Friday 12th May, the whole school celebrated Mother’s Day with a Parish Mass, morning tea and PPR. The Mass was prepared and run by the Foundation classes and their teachers: Vanessa, Sonia and Lily. It was such a beautiful Mass, filled with lots of love and beautiful singing. Students absolutely loved being able to sit next to their mums, grandmas and special people and to celebrate the day. Our Grade 6 Leaders handed out flowers to all the women that came along for the Mass, which was warmly received. Thank you to all those that came along to the Mass and we hope you all enjoyed your gifts that the students made during PPR.
Just a gentle reminder that when we attend Mass it is a sacred time and the etiquette is to come into the church without food or drink (i.e. coffee) and not to be using or have your phones on during the service.
Sacramental Program - First Eucharist / Confirmation
The Mass is coming upon us quickly. Candidates have been working hard at completing the ‘Steps in Faith’ lessons in readiness for their special day on Sunday 28th May. This week students will complete their books and bring them in for Fr. John Paul to have a look at. Then on Sunday (21st May) candidates will bring their workbooks to Mass as a sign of being ready to receive their sacraments. During next week, candidates will attend the Parish Mass on Wednesday at 9:15am, followed by First Rite Reconciliation in preparation for their First Eucharist and Confirmation.
Sunday 28th May
9:30am - Candidates meet at the Mercy Centre for preparation and individual photos
10:05am - Candidates group photo with the Bishop
10:15am - Candidates remain in the Mercy Centre, family returns to the church
10:30am - Mass begins
** When mass finishes the candidates will process out of the church and then back around to the side door and line up inside the church at the front for photos.
Not sure who is making their sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation? Then you need to check out their photos and posters in the Church Narthex. We wish all the candidates the best of luck, a fabulous day filled with lots of love and grace, and we keep them in our prayers.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
