Founders Day - 125 Years
On Thursday May 25, Shelford welcomed the community, alumnae and special guests, Cr. Simone Zmood and Cr. Sam Parasol from Glen Eira Council to celebrate 125 years of history and tradition. Students from Junior and Senior School enjoyed Foundation Day assembly presentations and the inspiring words of special guest alumnae, Diane Wright and Di Harvey.
The afternoon commenced with an informal birthday cake cutting ceremony whilst all students enjoyed a 125 year cupcake during lunch. The weather was not favourable and started to drizzle whilst guests trickled into the school, but that didn't stop them from enjoying a heritage walk around the grounds. Many historic photographs and pieces from our Archives dating back as early as the 1890s were on display and fascinating to see. Thank you to our tour guide students who did such a wonderful job showing our guests around.
We concluded Founders Day with a delectable spread at an afternoon tea along with a warm ‘thank you’ by principal, Katrina Brennan. She explained the importance of the 2023 Annual Appeal, the three impact areas and how the Shelford Foundation will strengthen the opportunities for our students and how, together, we can ensure the continuation of Emily Dixon’s legacy for generations to come. Your gift, large or small, will make a significant impact on the lives of current and future Shelford students.
Thank you to all staff, parents, alumnae, special guests and the wider community who were able to attend such an amazing celebration of Shelford.
