Da Vinci Decathlon

Felicity Scully

The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition that includes 10 different subjects:

English, Art and Poetry, Mathematics, Cartography, Engineering, Creative Producers, Code Breaking, Legacy, Ideology and Science. Maffra Secondary College, Sale Catholic College and Gippsland Grammar all competed in this event on Wednesday the 10th of May. Our team of 8 students participated in the competition. The students that competed were Orlia Cleary, Ruby Johnston, Alex Ognew, Riley Boyle, Ari Cater, Ruby Baxter, Harry Allison and Ash Carrington.

It was a difficult competition, but overall, we all worked as a team and completed every task as best as we could.

In the end we came second and were proud of our achievements. Coming first in three of the ten subjects.

It was an incredible experience, and we were very lucky to be able to attend the Da Vinci Decathlon. We are very thankful to Gippsland Grammar for hosting the event, and to Ms Scully for organising transport and caring for us for the duration of the day :) Thank you both Sale Catholic College and Gippsland Grammar for being great competitors and good sports during the competition.                     By Orlia Cleary and Ruby Johnston
