Frocks, fun and frivolity

Year 10 students were dressed to the nines last Friday night for their Welcome to Senior Studies Dinner at Blundstone Arena. View the full gallery on our website here.

Creative with clay

Our Year 9/10 Ceramics Class have been busy pottering away at creating figurative sculptures out of white earthenware clay using hand building techniques they are learning in class. Inspired by the work of Tasmanian Ceramicist Sally Curry, students were asked to create a masterpiece that expressed elements of their own identity using colour, gesture, expression and patterns.

Positive role models

Pictured below: The SMC Green U6 hockey team hang on to every word of their coaches, Hayley Newsham-West and Lucy Pinelli (Year 8) during their game last weekend. The students are having a wonderful season so far and are displaying great teamwork, thanks in part to their older role models showing them how it's done!

Getting to the heart of it

Year 8 students have been working on a unit on the human body, looking at how all the body systems interconnect with a focus on the digestive, circulatory and respiratory system.

With their recent studies including a focus on the heart, students enjoyed putting their theory into practice, conducting a sheep's heart dissection to explore the function of a heart by examining the internal and external structures. Not for the faint hearted!
